Flor de Lótus

 

Esta flor pertence à família de flores da íris, que inclui mais de 300 espécies de flores semelhantes, que são comumente encontradas na maioria das regiões do mundo, como plantas silvestres e plantas decorativas também. Por causa das variedades abundantes desta flor ao redor do mundo, seu significado difere de região para região, dependendo de sua cor. O sentido geral indica que as três folhas de lótus simbolizam fé, coragem e sabedoria.

É simbolicamente associada à figura de Buda e aos seus ensinamentos e, por isso, são flores sagradas para os povos do oriente. Diz a lenda que quando o menino Buda deu os primeiros passos, em todos os lugares que pisou, flores de lótus desabrocharam.

Nas religiões asiáticas, a maior parte das divindades costumam surgir sentadas sobre uma flor de lótus durante o ato de meditação.

Na literatura clássica de muitas culturas asiáticas, a flor de lótus simboliza elegância, beleza, perfeição, pureza e graça, sendo frequentemente associada aos atributos femininos ideais.

A flor de lótus representa um mistério para a ciência, que não consegue explicar a característica própria que possui de repelir microorganismos e partículas de pó.

É uma flor muito usada em tatuagens com diferentes significados associados a cada cor da flor. No Japão esta flor é muitas vezes tatuada em conjunto com o peixe koi, significando individualidade e força.
